Tutoring for Taft Charter High School students
Woodland Hills tutoring
Math, science and writing support for Taft Toreadors, from freshman year to senior applications.
Taft Charter High School on Ventura Blvd serves a wide mix of students, and we see the full range: freshmen adjusting to high-school algebra and geometry, sophomores hitting biology and chemistry, and seniors trying to finish strong while writing college essays. Our first step is always a short check-in to find the specific skill underneath a low grade, because a struggle in geometry or chemistry very often traces back to an algebra gap from an earlier year.

Taft High tutoring questions
- My freshman at Taft is struggling with the jump to high school math. Is that common?
- Very. The pace and independence expected in ninth grade catch a lot of students off guard. We usually rebuild one or two foundation skills while keeping up with current homework.
- Can you help with chemistry if the problem is really the math?
- Yes, and that's often the case. We work on unit conversions, ratios and equation-solving inside the chemistry problems themselves.
- Do you help with college applications?
- We coach essays — brainstorming, structure and revision — including the UC personal insight questions. The student's voice stays theirs; we don't write it for them.
- Is there a long-term commitment?
- No. Book single sessions or a monthly four-session plan, and pause during summer or holidays.
- Can sessions be online on busy weeks?
- Yes. Many families mix in-home sessions with online ones around sports and activities.
